All Wrapped Up #2
Been obsessed with clothy things, I reckon... All those tempting creases and folds and whatever. Drew this one just yesterday (28/11/2011) Here's the step-by-step progression of another All Wrapped Up (pencil, graphite, A4).
From left: architect's pencil, 3 normal 2B pencils (the black one is from Muji), an abused eraser and a Cretacolour 6B graphite
Shading of the little lady swathed in cloth done! I used the 3 2B colour pencils (all of which seem to produce different shading effects) and the abused eraser.
For the swathy cloth, I only used the graphite. It's so nice to colour with.
Now it's time to wrap up this post (pun intended). Labels: 2B, A4, abused eraser, art, Azone, charcoal, creases, folds, shading, sketches, wrapped up

All Wrapped Up #1
I did this on 15/10/11 (just over a month ago) and it was my first time experimenting with drawing folds and creases and blah blah blah. Surprisingly turned out quite ok!
All pencil, A5. Labels: A5, art, creases, folds, pencils, sketches, wrap

White on Black
2 weeks ago, I bought an A4 Azone sketchbook., the black kind that you can decorate yourself. Those are really fun!
At first I did a random white thing and I stopped there. And then I realised it looked a bit like a bird, so I continued...
Now I think the bird should be a tad more obvious, with its eye and open beak & all. This was just the front, so I did the back too.

Stuff I Draw When I'm Brain Dead
Sometimes I don't want to use my brain. But I still want to draw. So I have found a compromise! Basically when I'm brain dead I really enjoy drawing shapes and then colouring them in. It's like designing your own colouring book! I have an entire sketchbook dedicated to this stuff, but for this post I'll just show three. Maybe more in another post. It's pretty fun 'cos I get to choose colour combos and then mindlessly colour while listening to loud dance music (hahaha).
I drew these with black markers (you have no idea how many black markers I've gone through in the past month alone - it's ridiculous) and coloured marker pens. Pretty easy! In order to prevent that streaky pen-mark look that you sometimes get from using coloured markers, what I do is that I colour the shape continuously & evenly with the marker in one direction only. After that I colour another even layer over it in another direction. It works! Actually in the first one on top, there's one grey bit with streaks on it. That's the kind of effect I try to avoid. >:( Something else to be careful of is your black marker. Once you start colouring the black shapes with coloured markers, the black ink may start streaking onto the coloured bits! That really irritates me (grrrrrr). AND SOMETIMES, the black marker shit gets onto the coloured parts (you know, fluff from the marker nip that comes off when you use it - ugh). Even more irritating but not the end of the world still. Stuff to draw when you're brain dead. Labels: art, black markers, brain dead, colour combo, coloured marker pens, lazy to draw anything else, marker shit, markers, shapes, sketches

Let's Doodle on a Poodle Eating a Noodle
HELLO! I am here to advocate the greatness of doodling. I am a BIIIIIG fan of doodling. Doodling is a brilliant way to pass the time when you feel like your teacher really isn't worth listening to at that point in time. It also opens the gateways for your creative juices. Great doodles have great power. Sometimes I find it even helps me concentrate better since my hands are preoccupied with doing something else, so I'm not distracted by looking for stuff for them to do - true story. Let's go!
A pencil quickie that took about a minute or two. She's a nice pretty girl that I drew in a class where paying attention didn't really seem all that fun. Her neck is exceptionally long (me likes ze long necks). Attempt to draw my physics teacher, so you can guess which class I wasn't paying attention in! Ah, the joys a nice red pen can bring you. Great thing about doodling is that it's so damn informal! Just grab anything that can make marks on paper and doodle away.
Yeah. The caption says it all. I took my table partner's orange & brown marker (they were the closest things to my hands). Again with the nice long necks.
I did this during chem class actually, and my teacher was watching me draw it the whole time he was explaining goodness-knows-what. I think he thought I was weird 'cos I didn't draw hair. :-/
Say hi to my friend Amylea. That's not actually how you spell her name, but well her leg happened to be within drawing distance (hehe) so I thought, "heck, why not" MORAL OF THE STORY: Doodle at all times and opportunities. I am always surprised by how unplanned art can turn out best! I like to doodle on a poodle eating a noodle.
